Venus in Sagittarius – birth chart of a great painter (Vedic Astrology)
![]() |
The ascendant lord always tells the purpose of life and since here the ascendant lord is placed in the 3rd house of our skills so the purpose of life becomes the 3rd house. For a Scorpio ascendant, the sign of Capricorn rules the 3rd house and Capricorn is a practical sign of work and it is an earthy sign. Since Mars is placed in the 3rd house and since Mars is a planet of putting energy and efforts so here the energy and efforts are being applied in some practical work related to hands as the 3rd house represents our hands and shoulders.
If the sign of Gemini was falling on the 3rd house and then if Mars was placed in the sign of Gemini in the 3rd house, the energy and efforts would have been more about communication and not practical work like painting. So that is a major difference. Now, Mercury is also placed in the 3rd house and this shows hands are being used in some practical work related to writing or carving something as 3rd house represents our skills of hands and it is possible to do a lot of things with our hands.
But here the location of the 3rd house lord Saturn in the sign of Cancer in the 9th house tells that the practical work is more of an emotional work of publishing, as the 9th house is the house of publishing and cancer is an emotional sign, and painting is nothing but an emotional practical work where you use your intuition and imagination and his Moon is also placed in the sign of Cancer, in the 9th house of publishing, which is also a sign of intuition and imagination. In painting, water is being used and the sign of Cancer represents the water.
Now, the career of painting becomes more confirmed when we see the creative planets like Venus and Sun also falling in the sign of Sagittarius which is a sign of publishing and also this is happening in the 2nd house which is also a very creative house as originally Venus rules the 2nd house in the default zodiac and Venus is a very creative and artistic planet.
If Venus was placed in the sign of Capricorn in the 2nd house, it would have been more of a digital creation such as graphic designing or web designing on computers as Capricorn is a sign of automation or machine work. On the other hand, the sign of Sagittarius has nothing to do with machine designing and it is designing on a piece of paper.
So here the placement of Venus and Sun in the sign of Sagittarius gives a great clue of publishing something on a piece of paper and this becomes more confirmed when we see the planet Jupiter, lord of Sagittarius, falling in the 6th house of minute and detailed oriented work. Also, the 6th lord Mars is again placed in the sign of Capricorn in the 3rd house and this confirms that the detail-oriented work is something that is related to using the skills of hands. Also, his Rahu, conjuncting Venus, and Sun in the 2nd house, confirms his obsession for arts as Rahu is a planet of our obsession and Venus & Sun are already a very creative planet as mentioned before. So, this chart makes perfect sense for an artist.
Also, when you do any kind of practical work with your hands then you do it by using some tools. For example, when you make paintings then you use a painting brush, and all tools are represented by the planet Saturn as all the lifeless things made of iron, steel, and wood are represented by the planet Saturn. But how we can determine if the tool here is a painting brush only? There is no sure shot way to determine this but we need to look at the sign where the planet Saturn is placed and since Saturn is placed in the sign of Cancer so this gives some idea that the tool might be related to something that is used in an emotional practical work such as painting and this becomes more confirmed by looking at the placement of other planets in the birth chart. Also, look at the placement of planets in the Navamsa chart as the Navamsa chart tells how the planets are working internally within the person.
Click here to see the Navamsa chart of the person and you can see that he was a Sagittarius Ascendant in the Navamsa chart and his ascendant lord Jupiter is placed in the sign of Taurus in the 6th house and Taurus, as you know, is again the sign of Venus and so this again shows detail-oriented work (as 6th house is detail-oriented work) related to some artwork and this becomes more confirmed when the planets like Rahu, Moon, and Sun are again placed in the sign of Sagittarius in the 1st house in the Navamsa chart.
Also, in the Navamsa chart his Mars is placed in the 4th house in the sign of Pisces and Pisces is really a very spiritual sign and spirituality is expressed through art, music, and healing and since here the planet Jupiter, lord of Pisces, is placed in the sign of Taurus this gives an idea that here the spirituality is expressed through some kind of artistic work as Taurus is a sign of artistic work.
Sagittarius is actually a sign of exploration (exploring nature in some way) and when a planet like Venus is placed in the sign of Sagittarius it could also mean exploring nature in your arts and this becomes more confirmed by looking at the placement of other planets in the birth chart.
For example, many people explore the jungle to hunt animals and, in that case, Mars could fall in the sign of Sagittarius as Mars is a major planet of hunting especially if Saturn is placed in the sign of Scorpio which is a sign of killing and Mars also rules the sign of Scorpio.
Many people enjoy watching documentary films, on the television or over the internet, on the wild animals and the jungles and they may also have their Venus placed in the sign of Sagittarius as Venus is a planet of enjoyment and Sagittarius is a sign that represents the jungles, wild animals, plants and trees. When you enjoy anything on TV then your Venus gets activated.
