5th lord in 1st house for Virgo ascendant (Vedic Astrology)

For a Virgo ascendant, Saturn controls the 5th house as the sign of Capricorn falls on the 5th house. 5th house is the house of recreational activities (such as playing) and the sign of Capricorn (or Saturn) is a sign that represents everything that is made of iron & steel. Gym equipment are all made of iron and steel and a lot of people are involved in bodybuilding and so they have to work with the gym equipment and doing the workout in the gym is also a recreational activity and 5th house is also the house of recreational activities, as mentioned before.

Now, when the 5th lord Saturn is placed in the 1st house then doing a workout in the gym is quite possible as the sign of Virgo falls on the 1st house for a Virgo ascendant and Virgo is a sign of doing difficult things and it is also a sign of health care. Many people engaged in weight-lifting sports may also have this placement as any kind of weight made of iron & steel is represented by Saturn. Any sport where a tool made of iron, steel, or wood is used can be seen from this placement.

1st house represents the physical self (physical body) and so a lot of physical activity is involved in the physical self when Saturn is placed in the 1st house. Saturn is never considered good in the 1st house as it makes you work hard as Virgo is a practical sign of work and difficulties (such as pain). The sign of Virgo or Mercury represents our nervous system. Our nervous system uses specialized cells called neurons to send signals, or messages, all over the body. These electrical signals travel between our brain, skin, organs, glands, and muscles and so these signals help feel sensations in our body such as pain.

That is the reason Saturn in Virgo, in the 1st house, is a difficult placement as it makes you work hard and feel the pain. But this is not always so and it depends a lot on the placement of Mercury in the birth chart. For example, when you lift some weight then that may be a recreational activity, still, it makes you feel the pain (or difficulty) in doing that. On the construction sites, many people work with the construction equipment and such people could also have a Virgo as their ascendant and Saturn being placed in the 1st house. Working with the construction equipment may not be a recreational activity but Saturn also controls the 6th house of work for a Virgo ascendant and so this is also possible. Many factory workers or industrial workers who are all the time working on machines to operate them may also have this placement as Saturn represents all the machinery and tools made of iron, steel, and wood and Virgo is a sign of practical work.

Saturn also represents the bones in our body and so bones are also affected when Saturn is placed in the sign of Virgo as Virgo is a sign of difficulties, pain, and suffering. Fractures are a good example of that. A fracture is a break in a bone and Virgo is also a sign of breaking. But this is more so possible if Mercury is not well placed in the chart (such as placed in the sign of Scorpio in the 3rd house or the sign of Aries in the 8th house). It doesn’t matter whether Saturn controls your 5th house or any other house Saturn is still the natural significator of bones in our body. Pain in the knees in the period of Saturn is also possible as knees are also represented by the planet Saturn.

Since Virgo controls our nervous system and since the nervous system comprises of the brain and spinal cord, spinal cord injury is also likely (along with brain functioning problems) when Saturn is placed in the sign of Virgo. Saturn is a restrictive planet and so it restricts the functioning of organs associated with the nervous system (such as the nerves which send signals to the brain). But this is more so when Mercury is not well placed in the chart as mentioned before. Also, these kinds of problems are more likely during the period of Saturn (dasa or anterdasa). Mercury is the planet that controls our senses and we sense the senses through the neurons that are present in our nervous system. For example, we feel the sense of cold and hot through our senses (or neurons).

For a Virgo ascendant, Saturn controls the 5th house and the 5th house also represents the liver as, in the default zodiac, the 5th house is controlled by Sun and Sun is a hot planet and the liver is also hot. Now, when the 5th lord, Saturn, is placed in the sign of Virgo in the 1st house then a disease like hepatic encephalopathy is also possible with this placement. This disease is a nervous system disorder due to a bad liver. You can know more about this disease from Google search.

Reduced alertness, sleep problems, short attention span, mood or personality changes are some of the symptoms of this disease. But this disease is more so possible if Mars is placed in the sign of Leo and Sun is placed in the sign of Virgo in the chart. Mars, placed in Leo, is never good for the liver as it creates a lot of agitation in the liver (Mars is a planet of motion) as Leo is a sign that represents our liver. People suffering from hepatic encephalopathy may seem confused also. A disease like a migraine is also possible with this placement. But such diseases will come only during bad dasas and bad transits. If Moon is also placed in the sign of Virgo in the 1st house then it may give more suffering.
