How planets will behave when placed in the 4th house? (Vedic Astrology)

4th house is the house of rest and peace for the native of the birth chart as originally, in the default zodiac, it is ruled by Moon which is a soft planet with emotions and feelings. The home you live in is also represented by the 4th house as we get peace and relaxation at home. But, in general, this is the house of conveniences of life.

Poor people having little or no money cannot have all the conveniences of life and this usually happens when the 4th house or 4th lord (planet ruling the 4th house) is afflicted badly. When you buy a car or a motorbike then such vehicles are also the part of the 4th house as these are also our conveniences of life other than things like home, furniture, bed, home appliances, etc.

Suppose the sign of Cancer falls on the 4th house for an Aries ascendant and 10th house lord, Saturn, is placed in the 4th house. So here the peace, comfort, and ability to take rest will be badly affected due to excessive physical work as the 10th house is the house of physical work and its lord is placed in the 4th house. Saturn is a restrictive planet (and planet of work) and it is also an enemy sign for the 4th house or the Moon.

Also, 4th house fall under the time 11 pm to 1 am in the night as the 1st house falls under the time 5 am to 7 am in the morning and moving clockwise you will reach the time I mentioned for the 4th house, as above, considering 2 hours time for each house in the Vedic birth chart. This gives the proof that 4th house is the house of rest as it falls at midnight and Saturn is a planet of work and so the energies are different for the 4th house and the planet Saturn and that is the major reason Saturn creates a problem in the 4th house.

That is also the reason, sleep is disturbed at night when malefic planets like Sun and Saturn are placed in the 4th house. But Saturn restricts peace and the rest up to a certain age only because Saturn only restricts but never denies unless 4th house is afflicted in the Navamsa chart also. The major problem comes when the 4th house or 4th lord is afflicted both in the Navamsa chart and the birth chart otherwise it will create a problem till a limited period of time only.

People having Saturn in the 4th house or the sign of Capricorn falling on the 4th house you will often find them working from home (as 4th house represents home) even during holidays and weekends or working till late night. Legendary actor, Amitabh Bachchan, has his Saturn placed in the 4th house in the sign of Taurus and he said in one of his interviews that he works till late night and this is what Saturn can do when placed in the 4th house of peace and rest.

People often live in rental homes or on the streets if 4th house is badly afflicted throughout D-1, D-9, D-4, and D-60 charts as the conveniences of life are restricted when the 4th house or the 4th lord is badly afflicted by several malefics at a time such as Rahu, Ketu, Saturn, Gulika, Maandi, Mars or if the 4th lord is placed in the 6th, 8th or 12th but 12th lord should also be placed in the 4th house simultaneously and this will show a lot of troubles related to home, vehicles and other conveniences of life.

When 4th house lord is placed in the 12th house of losses (or expenses) then this can bring expenses due to the construction of the home or it could be a loss of home due to the filing of bankruptcy depending on the position of other planets in the birth chart.

If 4th lord is placed in the 12th house and if 8th lord or 6th lord is placed in the 4th house then this usually the case for the loss of home or vehicle due to the default on a loan or it could be a loss of inheritance as 8th house is the house of inheritance while 6th house is the house of loan. Wherever 6th lord, 8th lord or 12th lord are placed in the birth chart those are really the houses which are afflicted badly and again if the lord of that afflicted house is placed in the 12th house it confirms the losses related to the things represented by that house.

If 4th house is afflicted in the birth chart and if suppose there is a debilitated planet sitting in the 4th house in the Navamsa chart then this is again a placement which could give troubles related to the things of the 4th house such as home, vehicles and other conveniences of life such as conveniences in travel. If your 4th house or 4th lord is not afflicted then wherever you could go you will always find the conveniences and comforts of life without any problem.

If 4th lord is placed in the 3rd house and if 6th lord, 8th lord and 12th lord are placed in the 4th house then this is often the placement for people who don't have a home and are forced to live on the streets or in a slum area. I said this because the 3rd house is 12th from the 4th house and so the 3rd house is the loss of the 4th house which means loss of home comforts or the home itself. But if only 4th lord is placed in the 3rd house and either of the 6th, 8th, or 12th lord are not placed in the 4th house then it won't be much of a problem. 6th lord, 8th lord and 12th lord creates major problems in the chart as all these 3 houses are dusthana houses.

When 12th lord is placed in the 4th house it could also mean your home is isolated from the real world as 12th house is the house of isolation and 4th house represents the home. But this is more so possible if the 4th lord is also placed in the 12th house and so there will be a mutual exchange of lords between the 4th house and the 12th house. You might have seen some people have their home on beaches and islands or in foreign countries and such people usually have this placement. People who own a lot of Agricultural lands may also have this placement especially if Mars is strong in the birth chart which I have mentioned below.

But the real secret lies in the placement of Mars in the birth chart as Mars is the significator of property or land. If Mars is exalted anywhere in the chart then you will never be deprived of a home or property and in fact, you may have more than one property or several homes.

If Mars is placed in the 10th house then also it is considered exalted even if it is placed in the sign of Cancer. You will never be deprived of land or home if Mars is placed in the 10th house. Debilitated Mars usually creates problems and such people may find it difficult to attain their own home in this life though they may find some rental home unless Mars is highly inflicted in the chart. Mars is said to be Bhumi Putra and Bhumi refers to land and Putra refers to son.

The planet Mars when placed in the 4th house generally creates a problem in the married life as then it creates Manglik Dosh. When Mars is placed in the 4th house it aspects the 7th house of marriage and relationships with its 4th aspect which is not good for the married life. Mars is a soldier and quality of Mars is to fight and so it creates fight in relationships when placed in the 4th house or 7th house.

Aamir Khan, the Indian film actor, has this placement of Mars in the 7th house and he faced divorce and got married twice. Venus, Moon, Mercury, and Jupiter > these are only the planets that do very well when placed in the 4th house as these are soft and benefic planets placed in a soft house of comforts. Jupiter is considered exalted in the 4th house.
